Captain's Rantings - April 2007
Welcome to my first Captain's Rantings Page.
This will be a monthly round up of future team events, good performances and general rantings of your Senior Mens Captain!
Hartlepool Marina 5
A great performance from Alec Duffield to finish in 2nd place in a quick 26.00. This helped us lift the Team Prize from under the noses of the Burn Road Harriers. Backed up by good performances from Paul Wildmore and Bill Bingham it showed that L&W are a force to be reckoned with on the road as well as the Cross Country.
NYSD Cross Country
A tough season where we were hit by injuries and absences in almost every race meant retaining the title this year was always going to be a difficult but in the end the senior lads did it by a mere two points with performances in the final race at Richmond being crucial.
Mermaid 10k
This fixture on Good Friday at Marske has become a well established race. This year with a good field all round was no exception. Andy Pearson led home the Loftus and Whitby contingent with a time of 34.58 to finish 9th place overall. Bill Bingham reminded people again of his quality racing ability with a fine 36.29. Also running were Rob Williamson, Dave Horness and Robert Howard.
Guisborough Woods Race
A scorching day on the tops at Guisbrough meant this annual fixture was a slog in the heat. Dan Middlemass was first home for L&W with a time of 92.16 to finish 7th. Also running were David Parkin (26th), Paul Wildmore (28th), Robert Howard (40th). Overall the team finished 4th.
Tees Forest Series
Andy Pearson was the sole L&W runner competing in the opening race of the Tees Forest Series, finishing 2nd behind Rob Cole. Andy took advantage of some tired Post Moors Race legs to run hard from the start to secure runners up spot behind Rob who blasted off from the start like a startled deer running through the forest!. Next race in the series is the Summerhill, Hartlepool event in May. Check out the North York Moors site for more details.
